Saturday, November 14:
Eighteen teams representing MASSA, MISSA, NESSA and SAISA schools sailed today at the high school Atlantic Coast Championship hosted by Norfolk Yacht and Country Club.
Under clear sunny skies, with temperatures in the mid-50°s, W4 races were sailed right in front of the club in a brisk westerly breeze in the 10-15 mph range. The wind direction allowed for great viewing and rotations off the NYCC floating docks between sets.
PRO Ann Stokes and her volunteers got nine A Division and six B Division races completed, with the day ending with A Division sailing three races in their last set to finish shortly before the 4:56PM sunset. ODU sailing alumnus K.C. Fullmer served as the Protest Committee Chair. Along with K.C, Eddie and Gordon Wolcott heard protests for the day, which resulted in four DSQ’s and one RDG. Joan Patterson served as scorekeeper.
Thank you to all the volunteers that contributed to a great day of sailing.
Racing will resume tomorrow morning with B Division race 7.

Sunday, November 15:
Racing resumed with clear skies and very little wind on the Lafayette River. Through the day winds ranged from 0-8mph generally out of the SE with quirky gusts up to 12 mph of varying directions. Seas were flat. Teams completed 2 A and 5 B W4 races for a total of 11 races in each division for the regatta. No protests were filed.
Saint Thomas Aquinas High School took first place, followed by Key School in second, and Christchurch School in third place.
Thanks to NYCC, all participants, and volunteers for a truly enjoyable event.
